The Jezreel Valley

The Jezreel Valley is home to some of the most fertile farmland in Israel and it is a place with wonderful vistas. The agricultural heartland of the country; it is an area rich in natural springs.


While there are other valleys in Israel, in Hebrew the Jezreel Valley is often referred to simply as “Ha’emek - The Valley”. This is a great area for hiking, picnicking – enjoying nature and learning about both modern and biblical history.

Megiddo (The Valley of Armageddon) [in the KJV spelled Megiddon] - Megiddo was an important Canaanite and later Israeli city that overlooked the Valley of Jezreel (Megiddo). In Old Testament times this valley separated Samaria from Galilee. The western part of the valley of Jezreel included the valley of Megiddo (Armageddon). This rich fertile valley is mentioned often in the Scriptures. References include Revelation 16:16; 2 Kings 9, 10; Hosea 1:4-5; Jeremiah 51:25; Joel 3:2,12; Joshua 12, 17; 1 Chronicles 7; Judges 1:27-28, 5:19; 1 Kings 9:15-19; 2 Chronicles 1:14, etc., etc, etc. Archaeology shows this city has been built and destroyed 26 times.
